Join us for "Food Allergy Management in Schools (FAMS)" a three-part webinar series designed specifically for school professionals—including teachers, nurses, administrators, and staff.

Webinar #2, which takes place on Thursday, March 12, will focus on strengthening allergy prevention and emergency preparedness practices in educational settings. We will begin with a brief overview from session one, then tackle practical classroom strategies to reduce risk, including cleaning and handwashing best practices, inclusive protocols that support all students, and considerations around nut-free school policies. We will address tricky situations about managing food allergy during OST (out of school) time, like buses, field trips, after school activities, and PTO events.

Participants will also learn how to develop effective emergency response protocols for allergic reactions—including for individuals without a previously known allergy—along with best practices for epinephrine storage and current recommendations for stock epinephrine in schools. Our panelists include Dr. Kelly Cleary, Kaitlyn Falk, Linda Neumann, RN, and Dr. Michael Pistiner. Come ready with your questions! Meet Our Speakers

Kelly Cleary, MD, FAAP

Dr. Kelly Cleary is the Medical Director for FARE and Vice President of Health and Education. She oversees FARE’s national education efforts and maintains a variety of programs, resources, and relationships for the food allergic, their families, and caregivers. Previously, Kelly was the Medical Director of Psychopharmacology for PM Behavioral Health, where she was responsible for the oversight of medication management and operations for the behavioral health service. Kelly also co-founded UrgiKids, a pediatric urgent care in Naperville, Illinois, which was subsequently acquired by PM Pediatrics. A graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Kelly completed her Pediatrics residency at New York Presbyterian Cornell, and finished her Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at NYU-Bellevue. She is currently pursuing a master’s in public health degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Kaitlyn Falk

As the District Wellness Manager for Erie's Public Schools, Kaitlyn Falk is dedicated to fostering a culture of health and well-being within both the district and Erie as a whole. With 11 years of experience in program development/implementation and a strong background in community engagement, Falk creates initiatives that not only support student and staff wellness but also enhance the overall culture in the spaces she inhabits. Kaitlyn has a passion for holistic wellness, which drives her to collaborate with diverse partners, ensuring that programs meet the unique needs of students and educators. She believes that by nurturing people’s whole personhood—their physical, emotional, and spiritual selves—individuals can empower individuals to reach the full expression of themselves.


Linda Neumann, RN, PLNC

Linda Neumann is a registered professional nurse with 49 years of pediatric healthcare experience. She has practiced in the hospital setting, school nursing and currently as an Independent School Health Services Consultant. She is the lead author of the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), 2023 Allergy & Anaphylaxis Clinical Practice Guidelines Implementation Toolkit. She also served as the NASN representative on the Food Allergy Management in Schools (FAMS): Expert Recommendation advisory committee and currently serves on the FARE Education Advisory Committee. Linda has a passion for advocacy, engaging stakeholders to support legislation that improves healthcare outcomes for children/youth.
She has served in several positions including President and Legislative Chair for the Missouri Association of School Nurses, Missouri Director to NASN and Secretary/Treasurer for NASN. She has been a long-time member of the Missouri Coordinated School Health Coalition, Asthma and Allergy Foundation – Midwest, Brain Injury Association of Missouri, Missouri Injury and Violence Prevention Advisory Committee, Missouri Immunization Coalition, and the Human Trafficking Collaborative Network (housed at Washington University). Linda served as guest faculty on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery ECHO Series as well as liaison from NASN on the AAP’s Emerging Threats Project and the upcoming Infection Prevention and Control School-based Health ECHO series.

Michael Pistiner, MD, MMSc

Michael Pistiner, MD, MMSc, FAAP, is a pediatric allergist and the Director of Food Allergy Advocacy, Education and Prevention at Mass General for Children, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Pistiner has served as Chair of the Food Allergy Management in Schools Advisory Council and member of the CDC/USDA Workgroup for School Guideline Development for Managing Food Allergy in School. Dr. Pistiner has been deeply engaged in school food allergy advocacy and education at the local, state and national level. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Allergy and Immunology and Council on School Health.
