Epi First, Epi Fast: Into the Thigh or Spray in the Nose... how do I choose from all of those?

This session will cover the prevention and management of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) with the following objectives:-Provide an overview of food allergy and anaphylaxis management-Discuss the use of omalizumab/anti-IgE in food allergy-Review some of the recommendations outline in the 2023 Anaphylaxis Practice Parameters that discuss the management of anaphylaxis at home and when to activate EMS-Discuss the value of epinephrine and alternative epinephrine delivery devices such as nasal epinephrine

Thomas Casale, MD

Dr Casale is Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics and Chief of Clinical and Translational Research at University of South Florida Division of Allergy and Immunology in Tampa. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and was Executive Vice President for 10 years. He has served on the board of directors for the American Thoracic Society, The World Allergy Organization, and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology where he was also chair. Dr Casale was also Chief Medical Advisor, Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) for 4 years. Dr Casale has worked on bench to bedside research with a special focus on biologics and translational research. He has published over 550 scientific papers, reviews, and chapters; organized and directed more than fifty CME programs; and been on planning committees for five World Asthma Meetings. He has been on the editorial boards of multiple journals including JACI and JACI Practice. He is recognized as one of the world’s top 2% most influential scientists by research.com.
